(Purchase, New York, March 31, 2008) – ANC Sports Enterprises, Mitsubishi Electric and the Washington Nationals opened the 2008 Major League Baseball Season in the United

States at Nationals Park on Sunday, March 30th. The Nationals started the season with a victory, while ANC and Mitsubishi successfully launched one of the largest and most comprehensive Diamond Vision LED signage systems in baseball.

The new ballpark features a right-center field high-definition Diamond Vision video screen measuring 4,811 square feet, 102-feet of Mitsubishi's Diamond Vision signage in the outfield wall and over 950 feet of LED ribbon. The Diamond Vision ribbon system animates several locations of the ballpark, including the stadium’s right and left field fascia, above the home and visitors bullpens and a “ring” in the outfield adjacent to the scoreboard. All of the displays are operated through ANC's patent-pending VisionSOFT interface and feature graphics from ANC Deisgn.

Jerry Cifarelli, ANC Sports president and chief executive officer discussed the new ballpark’s displays on Bloomberg Television on Friday, March 28th. Click here to view a brief segment of the Nationals scoreboard on Bloomberg Television.

Additionally, the signage system is receiving excellent reviews from players and the media across the country.

"When I came out, I tried to kind of compare it to another park," the Nationals Ryan Zimmerman said. "There is really no other park. It looks like there is not a bad seat in the whole place. You know the TV (hi-def screen) is really unbelievable. It is just really, really nice."

There is no ivy wall like at Wrigley Field or anything like the Green Monster that lives at Fenway Park. There may be something like that in time, but for now, the mesmerizing, high-definition scoreboard measuring 101 feet by 47 feet is what visitors will be telling their neighbors about after they've been here for a game. (Chicago Sun-Times)

Zimmerman was larger than life as he rounded the bases, then came out of the dugout for a curtain call -- it all was shown on the 4,500-plus square foot high-definition video board above right-center, the most immediately noticeable perk of the new digs. It's about three times larger than the scoreboard at creaky, leaky RFK, a remnant from the 1960s that was the Nationals' home from 2005-07. (Associated Press)

There were families anxious to see the view from their new seats, generations passing traditions from Griffith Stadium to Robert F. Kennedy Stadium to the shiny new Nationals Park. People came via the Metro, took the shuttle from RFK, parked in their season ticket holder parking lots--even rode their bikes or took taxis. But they all came to see the new park, new field, new larger-than-life high definition scoreboard--oh, and actually watch a baseball game. (DC Sports Box)
